Don't Let Your Hands Foil Your Perfect Clear Windshield

One of the most frustrating tasks for Salisbury drivers when detailing their cars is getting the windshield perfectly streak-free. No matter how hard you try, there's always smudges left over.

This Autoblog Details video goes over the full process of cleaning your windshield like a professional, and eliminating every streak. If you're crunched for time, there is one quick tip we can share to improve your windshield-washing success right away:

Wear gloves.

Latex or nitrile gloves protect the glass, and your cleaning towels, from the oil in your skin. Hands can be particularly greasy if you've just been working in the garage, or haven't washed them recently, and you're taking two steps forward and one step back by adding on new grease to the glass as you try to wash it off.

The type of towels you use, and how you care for them, makes a big difference, too. Stick with a good microfiber towel for cleaning glass—it will absorb more grease and blot up the glass cleaner more effectively than a cotton towel. Keep your glass towels separate from the rest of your car towels to avoid cross-contamination. Do this, and you'll be one step closer to a streak-free windshield.
